Cinema in Macau

Macau's original encounter with the cinema dates back to the first decade of last century, approximately twelve years after the Lumière brothers invented the first motion picture projection machine in 1895. It is an encounter which coincides with the somewhat belated installation of electric lightning in the Cidade do Nome de Deus (City of the Name of God).
